Who We Are
Family Lifeline's Visiting Volunteers Program is a volunteer-based friendly visiting program that provides companionship, outreach, and advocacy to individuals in the community. Our mission is to provide social engagement opportunities to older adults as well as persons with disabilities who are experiencing social isolation and loneliness. The Visiting Volunteer staff connects participants and volunteers and helps facilitate weekly friendly visits for one year. Staff also provide training and ongoing support to both.
To join as a participant, you must be at least 60 years or an individual aging with a disability, live independently, want a friendly visitor for weekly visits for one year, and, not be diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or dementia or enrolled in hospice.
To join as a visiting volunteer, you must be a good listener and communicator. Have a good sense of humor. Provide own transportation. Commit to being a friendly visitor for weekly visits for one year. Ask about Phone Buddies, Stationary Projects, and Friendly Baskets of Cheer.
