Who We Are
Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia offers families a hand up not a hand out. Homeowners in Northern Virginia are selected based on their ability to pay, willingness to partner and need for affordable housing.
All interested applicants must meet the following initial criteria:
- Have lived in Northern Virginia (Fairfax, Arlington, Alexandria, Falls Church, or Fairfax City) for at least one year prior to application.
- Earn 40% – 55% of the median family income Have adequate income to make a down payment and monthly mortgage payments.
- Willingness to Partner with Habitat to complete 300 – 400 hours of “sweat-equity” in the building of their home and other Habitat homes.
- Have a need for affordable housing. To be considered, applicants must be currently be living in either substandard or inadequate housing.
