The dual purpose of the Senior Companion Program is to provide meaningful, stipend volunteer opportunities for low-income persons age 60 and over to render supportive, person-to-person assistance to adults with special or exceptional needs in health, welfare, and related settings. The Senior Companion will have a new purpose in life and the client will be able to remain in his/her own home rather than in an institution.
Senior Companions receive pre-service and ongoing training, annual physical examination; supplemental insurance, help with transportation costs, and a small stipend.
