Who We Are
Harrisonburg Paratransit is a specialized public transportation service that operates within the City of Harrisonburg for persons who have disabilities as described in the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Wheelchair-accessible vehicle service is offered for trips within the City of Harrisonburg. Service is curb-to-curb only. Drivers are not allowed to enter homes or destinations or to assist passengers with packages.
Harrisonburg Transit also offers Fixed-Route Bus service. This bus fleet uses 35-foot Gillig transit buses that kneel and have ramps for ADA access. 35 fixed-route vehicles and 8 paratransit vehicles (all vehicles are accessible).
Passengers who require a Personal Care Assistant will be allowed such assistance at no additional cost. All persons who want to use this service must be issued a paratransit card by first completing this application. The ADA Riders guide can be found on the website
As of 2021, Harrisonburg Paratransit is operating fare-free for transit and paratransit service until further notice. When a fare is charged, an exact change is required. Drivers are not able to make change.
