Who We Are

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Virginia promotes civil liberties and civil rights in the state through lobbying, litigation and public education. The principal mission is to protect the constitutionally mandated freedoms.

Civil Liberties - Cases which appear to deny constitutional rights should be described in writing.   If the case is accepted, volunteer lawyers may be available to represent the client. In legal cases, contributions towards attorney's fees and costs are appreciated.

In addition to the litigation for which the ACLU has been known, they also educate the public, inform the media, lobby legislators, organize grassroots activists, and disseminate information about our constitutional freedoms through their membership and volunteer chapters.
