The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) offers individuals aged 55 and older with meaningful volunteer opportunities in a variety of organizations (public and private non-profit), based on their interests and talents.
Volunteer opportunities are available in a variety of local agencies. The list below provides just a sample of ways you can be involved in giving back to your community.
- Hospital volunteers (greeter, escort, flower delivery, assistant in various units like admissions or radiology),
- Friendly Visitors (to elders and people with disabilities),
- Telephone Reassurance Callers (to elders and people with disabilities),
- Recreational or Therapeutic Activities Planners and Aides,
- Meal Deliverers,
- Discount Stores (organizing merchandise, accepting donations),
- Instructors/Instructional Aides (ie. financial literacy),
- Office Support (clerical, receptionist, volunteer office aides),
- Disaster Relief (blood donor ambassadors, recruitment volunteers).
